  26.   First off, the Getfile gadget is a BOOPSI-thing.  Also, it should be
  27. possible to USE it, or even one of the MUI getfile gadgets (which I think
  28. look much nicer, but MUI is too slow!), by using a generic gadtools gadget,
  29. and supplying the imagery.
  30.  
  31.   Second, it is "established" because if you show someone one of those
  32. gadgets, and ask what it is, they will tell you "getfile".  If you give
  33. someone an asterisk and ask what it is, you're not going to get a precise
  34. result.
  35.  
  36.   I also believe it is STANDARD, because look at C='s own
  37. FOUNTAIN/INTELLIFONT.  They use the "non-standard/non-established" getfile
  38. symbol in a gadget.

  75. Can't help you with your problem sorry :-(  But could I ask that you don't
  76. hard code the guide filename into your program.  I (and many others) store all
  77. my manual, doc and guide files into specific directories, and I'd like for all
  78. programs to be able to access that help without me having to create softlinks
  79. or making assigns.  On a large hard drive it's far neater to have all guide
  80. files in one place, intead of dotted around the drive.  Oh, and it may also
  81. help to support powerpacked amigaguides...

  110. I'd suggest you convert the modules into MED format, then use the player
  111. library to do all the hard work for you.  The includes for MED convert with no
  112. problems, as I've done this myself :-)

  223. I think the ability to read this list from a newsreader would be good, 
  224. because I hate having to separate my personal mail from list mail - my 
  225. mail program should do it for me, but I don't know how to get it to.

  227. On the other hand, I think you would have a much higher noise ratio since 
  228. everyone on this list at the moment is interested in E (not so with a 
  229. newsgroup). You might even find people posting trying to get us to buy 
  230. PCs or Macs instead (happens on a lot of Amiga newsgroups).
